2025 Harvest
?? Sowing period: March-May, August-November
Harvest: Harvest when the height reaches 25-30cm.
Yubana is considered a type of Lactuca sativa, the same species as Romaine lettuce, and is classified as a non-heading lettuce. Its leaves are long and narrow, and unlike Romaine lettuce, the tips are pointed rather than rounded.
The leaves are slim, the white core of the leaf is also narrow, and the entire leaf is a gentle yellow-green color. The core of the plant is not too hard and can be eaten finely shredded.
If you cannot use them all at once, store them in the vegetable compartment of your refrigerator (5-10℃).
?? Storage Method
Lightly wash the Yubana, wrap it in damp paper, place it in a storage bag, and store it upright in the vegetable compartment of your refrigerator.
Freezing is not recommended as it significantly damages the texture.
It has a unique aroma, and when stir-fried, it offers a savory flavor reminiscent of corn.
?? How to Eat
Yubana is recommended for stir-fries, but the young, tender leaves can also be enjoyed raw.
Boiled and dressed Yubana
Lightly boil the Yubana, plunge it into cold water, and once cooled, squeeze out the excess water and cut it into bite-sized pieces. It's delicious when prepared in various dressed dishes or as a simple boiled vegetable.
Stir-fried Yubana with minced meat.
