This is a 5-piece set of blue and white porcelain stemmed cups (also known as stemmed plates) purchased by my parent during a trip to China approximately 36 years ago.

All cups retain their fire seals (red wax seals), which were official permits issued by the Chinese government at the time to authenticate them as antiques and allow their export.

Travel at that time was under strict government control, often with officials accompanying travelers, and these were reportedly purchased legitimately from state-run antique shops.
