Great Deal! [New Product - Aizu Lacquerware] Wooden Wine Cup - Cherry Blossom Maki-e Lacquer Coating - Traditional Craft - With Box

Great value!
This item is about 40% off the price found in specialty stores, where it would cost over 6,000 yen per cup.

This is a wooden wine cup made with Aizu lacquerware (Aizu-nuri), a traditional craft of Fukushima Prefecture.
It is a very elegant piece featuring delicate cherry blossom maki-e (gold lacquer sprinkled on) in gold accents on a glossy, jet-black background.
The inside is a vibrant vermilion lacquer (uchishu), and when you pour sake, the unique deep luster of the lacquer is further enhanced.
The cherry blossom maki-e, applied generously, is a distinctive feature. The beautiful gradation of white, vermilion, and gold accents stands out vividly against the jet-black background, showing various expressions depending on the angle of the light (please check the close-up photos for details).

Made from natural wood, its surprising lightness when held and its warm, smooth feel that fits comfortably in your hand are unique charms of genuine lacquerware.
It can be used for various purposes, not only for wine but also for cold sake, shochu, or as a dish for appetizers and desserts.
