Timeless & Stunning 1920’s Art Deco 14K Gold Genuine Sapphire Posey Engagement Ring. The ring is inscribed with a date of October 15, 1929. It also bears a handwritten engraved inscription of the couples initials and a symbol translating to To As Fit (historically spelled or meant as To as fit or To us fit). Not only is this a gorgeous piece of antique jewelry, but it tells a story of love and marks an eventful time in history. Featuring a deep blue faceted sapphire center gemstone. The stone offers vivid color and eye-catching sparkle. Set in a detailed 14k white gold filigree design that complements the brilliant gemstone perfectly. The stone setting is encircled by a thin layer of yellow gold. There is also an inside band marking of Pat. Pend. 14K.   Posy rings (derived from the word poesy or poetry) were popular from the 15th to 18th centuries in England and France. They served as custom lover's gifts, wedding bands, or loyalty tokens. The hidden message on the inner band usually contained brief poems, short rhyming phrases, religious sentiments, or promises of devotion. Due to centuries-old orthography, these inscriptions frequently feature non-standard spelling conventions, decorative ligatures, and distinct cursive characteristics of the era.
