Vintage Descoware Flame Oval Baker Dutch Oven with Lid
This is a vintage enameled cast iron oval baker or Dutch oven. It is most likely manufactured by Descoware or Cousances (which was later acquired by Le Creuset). Both of these historic European brands produced this specific mid-century design with distinct ribbed tab handles, an embedded lid handle, and a single steam-release vent hole. The iconic, fiery gradient coloration is known as Flame (or Volcanique). It is the signature hue originally inspired by the glowing look of molten cast iron inside a foundry. It is an oval shape, making it ideal for roasting poultry or baking artisan bread loaves. The small hole on the right side of the lid is engineered to slowly vent steam during cooking, which helps prevent stews or sauces from boiling over. Classic ribbed extensions integrated directly into the dish body for secure handling with oven mitts. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A COUPLE OF DINGS IN THE ENAMEL AS PICTURED.
