Antique Edwardian Era Sash Collar Lace Pin Open Oval Cobalt Enamel Brass C Clasp
Unbranded
This lovely, diminutive antique pin from the Edwardian-era features an open oval brass frame with cobalt blue enamel, finished with beautifully painted stylized gold-tone accents on the sides. Small, lightweight oval open-center pins like this were used to fasten lace collars, scarves, or delicate garments without tearing the fabric. The C-clasp mechanism was used by manufacturers on jewelry from the early 19th century through the early 1900s; the long pin hinge stem extends just beyond the edge of the rim, and the pins were a bit thicker and sharper. This pin is in very good condition for its age; the enamel on the front is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks, the back has some minor signs of wear consistent with age, and the clasp mechanism holding the pin is slightly bent, however, the pin closes securely with no effort. Unsigned. Please view all photos carefully for condition and measurements and feel free to ask any questions - I am happy to answer them.
