Nikon 35Ti Film Camera with Dedicated Case

Nikon 35Ti film camera with exposure meter, comes with its dedicated case.
When I inserted batteries, it made a slight operating sound and the needle moved a little. The LCD for mode and set seems to be working, but I don't think anything else is functioning.
This belonged to my father and was found during a warehouse cleanout. I'm not familiar with it as it's not mine.
It's said to be a rare item, so I'm looking for someone knowledgeable.
Immediate purchase is welcome. The first buyer will be prioritized.
I've set the item condition to poor overall, but I believe the exterior and interior are clean.
