Beginners and intermediate players can easily play with correct intonation.

Advice on choosing the length of the intonation indicator:
Generally, the effective string length of an erhu (the distance from the bridge to the nut) is set at 39 cm.
When choosing the intonation indicator, select a length of 39 cm, 41 cm, or 37 cm based on your physique and playing style, with 39 cm as the standard effective string length.

For example, if you are a larger-framed male and find that when playing in the third position, the spacing between your fingers becomes too cramped and your fingering is not smooth with an effective string length of 39 cm, you should choose an effective string length of 41 cm and an intonation indicator of the same length.

Conversely, if you are a petite female and find that with an effective string length of 39 cm, your pinky finger in the first position of D key cannot reach the correct intonation position without shifting your wrist down, you should choose an effective string length of 37 cm and an intonation indicator of the same length.
