Functionality: Resistant to friction and shrinkage. Some items are treated with anti-static processing.
History and Production Area
Seika Palace is a type of Seika chirimen that has been used since the late 1950s. To overcome the shrinkage which was a drawback of traditional chirimen fabric made with highly twisted yarn, it is made with low-lying crinkles using weft yarns of kabe-ori and double kabe-ori. The main production area is Gosen City, Niigata Prefecture.
Advantages of Seika Palace
Comfort: It is light and durable, and is said to be comfortable when tailored into a kimono.
Appearance: It drapes well with the outer fabric, and its good leg movement helps maintain a beautiful kimono appearance.
Durability: It is treated with anti-mildew and anti-shrinkage processing, and is almost free from yellowing and slipping, allowing for worry-free use.
It is rarely produced today
and is a valuable item.
No pets or smokers.
