Originally intended as a kimono lining (kataura), it also looks wonderful framed and displayed as art.

Kataura (肩裏) refers to the lining of a haori or coat, specifically the part attached from the shoulders to the back. It is also sometimes called haura (羽裏) or kata-suberi (肩すべり).

Its main functions are to allow for smoother dressing and undressing, and to add a decorative element when the lining is visible upon removal. Smooth silk materials like habutae or hirarinzu are commonly used for their excellent slip properties.
