【Ultra Rare】A. HORESCHOWSKY WIEN Vintage Wooden Ice Axe

This is a wooden ice axe from the legendary brand A. HORESCHOWSKY, which was once located in Vienna, Austria. It is believed to have been made before World War II, around the 1920s-1930s, and is a rare gem that is seldom seen in Japan.
This is a one-owner item, purchased new by my father for approximately 80,000 yen at the time.
I am reluctantly selling it due to downsizing my belongings for a move.

■ Size and Specifications
Total length: Approx. 81cm (to the tip of the pick)
Head width: Approx. 28cm
Strap (leash): The original strap from that era is included (※ shows signs of age-related deterioration)

■ Usage and Storage Conditions
It was used for actual climbing at the time, but since then, it has been carefully maintained and stored by my father in a dark place at home, with regular applications of linseed oil.
It has not been used for the past few decades and has been carefully collected as a piece that tells a story of history.

To prioritize its value and patina as an antique with approximately 100 years of history, it is being offered without excessive cleaning or rust removal.

・Wooden parts (shaft):
Linseed oil has been applied to prevent the wood from drying out or cracking. Therefore, the surface currently has a slight stickiness characteristic of oil. While this is the correct protection for a vintage ice axe, if you are concerned, please feel free to gently wipe it down yourself and reapply oil to your preference, enjoying the maintenance process.

・Metal parts (head and pick):
There is rust and discoloration due to age, but it has been left as is as a testament to its history. This is because scraping or polishing could erase the valuable A.HORESCHOWSKY WIEN inscription or reduce its value.
