CDs "From New World" & "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" with Zubin Mehta's Autograph

CD Signed by Zubin Mehta

Zubin Mehta Conducting the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra

Dvořák: Symphony No. 9 in E minor, From the New World
R. Strauss: Also sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30

The opening of From the New World is not rushed, but rather features delicate string passages, melodic exchanges between various instruments, all executed with remarkable care. The rhythmic precision of the strings in the final movement is exquisite, demonstrating the perfect communication between Mehta and the orchestra. The famous melodies are enhanced by subtle, impressionistic portamento sprinkled throughout.
R. Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra is a grand performance as expected, with the orchestra resplendent. It is a powerful rendition, clearly showing the orchestra's sensitive response to Mehta's every gesture. The skill of the string players is particularly evident in the chamber music-like passages.
