Protective Optics 70s Military Aviator‎ Plum Lens Cable Temple Sunglasses Set

Vintage 1970s military-issue aviator flying sunglasses with plum-tinted aviation glass lenses and cable-temple wraparound arms, supplied through Protective Optics for U.S. aviation use.  These are true flight-spec sunglasses, not fashion retail eyewear. The cable-style temples are designed to secure the glasses behind the ears for use with helmets, headsets, and oxygen masks. This design was used for military and professional aviation rather than civilian sunglasses.  The plum-tinted laminated glass lenses are original and include the optical calibration marking used on aviation-grade lenses. This tint was selected for glare reduction and improved contrast in flight and outdoor operations.  This set includes the original Protective Optics hard case and the NATNATS-marked fog-repellent cloth issued for U.S. Navy and military optical supply. These markings indicate government aviation distribution rather than consumer retail packaging.
