Wear-Ever
Wear-Ever No. 8 Vintage Cone Strainer
The Wear-Ever No. 8 Aluminum Cone Sieve is a mid-century kitchen classic manufactured by the Aluminum Cooking Utensil Company in the United States. It measures roughly 9 inches tall with a rim diameter of about 8.25 inches. Crafted from heavy-gauge, durable aluminum with a sturdy riveted steel or iron wire handle. This tool was a 1940sā1950s staple for farmhouse home canning, food prep, and processing large batches of garden harvests. By placing cooked fruits or vegetables inside and mashing them down with the wooden pestle against the perforations, cooks could separate skins, seeds, and cores from the pulp. It was primarily used to make completely smooth applesauce, tomato juice, cranberry sauce, seedless jams, and jellies. Chinois Functions: In professional culinary tasks, its steep conical design allows liquids to flow quickly down toward the point, making it highly efficient for refining stocks and straining smooth sauces. Great vintage condition.
