A beautifully detailed antique jewelry/trinket box made by Jennings Brothers (Bridgeport, CT), known for their fine gilt metalwork around the turn of the 20th century. Features: • Maker’s mark: J.B. on base (Jennings Brothers) • Material: Gilt bronze/brass with warm aged patina • Lid decorated in high relief pastoral/romantic scene with figures, horse, dogs and classical scenery • Sides with ornate repeating Neo-Classical panel designs • Stands on four small bun feet • Interior lined in deep blue velvet (original, with age wear) • Approx. dimensions: 6.5” L x 4” W x 2.25” H Condition: Good antique condition with expected age wear. Some surface rubbing and gilding loss, and velvet shows signs of use, consistent with over 100 years of age (see photos). Hinge intact, opens and closes securely. A wonderful example of Jennings Brothers craftsmanship and a collectible piece for lovers of antique metalware, vanity boxes, and Victorian décor.
