Yashica A TLR Medium Format Film Camera (1956) – Working
Yashica
This is a fully functional example of the iconic Yashica A twin-lens reflex (TLR) 120 medium format camera. This specific camera is a highly desirable first-generation, early production model manufactured in Tokyo, Japan, circa mid-to-late 1956. It features the rare 5-digit sequential serial number block (Body No. 42033), marking it from the very first year of the Yashica A's production run before the factory transitioned to later 6-digit configurations. Mechanical & Optical Condition * Shutter: Fully tested and firing accurately. The Copal leaf shutter is crisp, and the slow speeds (including 1/25s and Bulb) are smooth and free of sticky, aged lubricants. * Aperture & Focus: The stepless aperture blades are clean and dry, moving smoothly from f/3.5 down to f/22. The side-focusing knob operates evenly across the entire focal range. * Optics & Viewfinder: The twin 80mm lenses are clean, and the pop-up waist-level viewfinder opens properly with a clear ground-glass focusing screen. The focusing screen could use a good surface cleaning. Aesthetic Condition * Light signs of use, but very good for 70 years old. See all photos for visual description. Key Specifications * Film Type: 120 roll film (produces large, high-detail 6x6 cm square negatives) * Taking Lens: Yashimar 80mm f/3.5 * Shutter Speeds: B, 1/25, 1/50, 1/100, 1/300 second * Serial Number: Body No. 42033 (Early 1956 Production)
