Vintage Bud Wilson Studio Pottery Weed Pot Vase Mid Century Blue Stoneware 5"

This gorgeous mid-century modern style bulbous weed pot bud vase was hand-thrown by American artisan Bud Wilson. Wilson was a mid-to-late 20th-century regional American studio potter whose work aligns with the American Studio Pottery Movement. Because he operated as an independent artisan producing individual studio pieces rather than commercial mass-market wares, detailed biographical archives on his life are scarce. However, his legacy lives on through his highly recognizable tactile aesthetic. •	The Weed Pot Legacy: Bud Wilson specialized heavily in spherical, round, and squat vessels. During the 1960s and 1970s, these miniature narrow-necked vases were highly collectible for displaying single sprigs of dried grasses or weeds. •	Earth & Iron Glazes: His signature look often utilizes heavy iron-bearing stoneware clay bodies. He frequently used a combination of thick dipping glazes, wax-resist slip designs, and raw unglazed textures to allow the native speckled clay to show through. •	Hand-Incised Inscriptions: Unlike large potteries that used stamps or ink logos, Wilson strictly signed his work by carving directly into the wet clay base before the first firing. This pot features a stunning multi-layered glaze technique: vibrant cobalt blue gloss paired with earthy, textured unglazed tan and brown brushstroke designs. Excellent vintage condition with absolutely no chips, cracks, or damage. Highly collectible piece of late 20th-century American art pottery!
