Nikkozan Rinnoji Taiyuin Dragon God Arrow
This is the Dragon God Demon-Breaking Arrow (Ryujin Hama-ya) awarded at Nikkozan Rinnoji Taiyuin in Tochigi Prefecture. Dragon Carving: A golden ascending dragon is carved into the shaft of the arrow, believed to bring benefits such as warding off evil and bringing good fortune as an auspicious item. Origin: This arrow is modeled after the one held by Umarokya, a Yaksha enshrined in the Yasha Gate of Taiyuin. How to Display: It is common to display the arrow with the tip pointing upwards when wishing for the fulfillment of various prayers, and to point it towards the entrance or the kimon (northeast direction, considered unlucky) when wishing for protection from evil.
