In 1964, André Malraux, then Minister of Culture, commissioned Marc Chagall to paint the ceiling of the Opera House.
After some hesitation, Chagall accepted and embarked on the immense task of creating a 220m2 work, where the subjects had to occupy the space while harmoniously connecting. To achieve this, Chagall decided to divide his work into five color zones, each populated by mythical composers immersed in their own worlds.
