This is a proven aggregation board for capturing Japanese honeybees! Approximately 36cm square.

US Size:

Thank you for viewing.

◇◇ This is a collection board that is highly effective and proven for capturing Japanese honeybees.

After swarming, Japanese honeybees first form a bee ball on tree trunks, and then, guided by scout bees, they move to a new living space.

If you have a collection board generously coated with attractant liquid and beeswax during this process, there is a high probability that they will form a bee ball on the collection board, centered around the queen bee (Photo 2).

Once a bee ball forms on the collection board, capturing them and moving them to a new hive becomes very easy and reliable.

Every year, along with waiting boxes, I set up multiple collection boards in multiple locations, and they have flown to and gathered on the collection boards multiple times.

The formation of bee balls on the collection board is temporary, so during the swarming season, I check regularly and capture them.

The capture method is relatively simple: prepare a two-tiered waiting box with a lid by inverting it (Photo 6), gently place the collection board with the bee ball on top of it (Photo 7), and after a while, invert the entire thing, including the collection board (Photo 8).

I have tried various materials for the surface of the collection board, such as palm fiber, bamboo, shading net, and metal mesh, but metal mesh was the most effective.
Furthermore, after trial and error with the material, diameter, and pitch of the mesh, I arrived at this product.

◇◇ While this does not guarantee capture, if Japanese honeybees are present in the vicinity, the possibility of capture is very high.

Also, for those who are already keeping bees, if the place where they form a bee ball after swarming is a high tree trunk or other place out of reach of a net, they may have to give up on capturing them. Therefore, I am confident that this is an essential item, especially for existing beekeepers.

◇◇ It is effective to regularly apply attractant liquid and beeswax to the collection board during the season, similar to the waiting box.
I also have attractant liquid listed, so please take a look and consider it as well.

※※ To make it easy to attach to trees etc. with wire, the collection board has 4mm holes drilled in 4x2 locations (top and bottom).
Also, when capturing, hold the handle on the back and quickly cut the wire etc. with nippers.

?? The swarming season (spring) is just around the corner.
Prepare early and try everything possible to taste the sweet, sweet Japanese honeybee honey (Photo 9) this autumn ???
