Antique Limoges Fruit Stand Compote Cake Stand with Gold Trim and Blue Accents
44.88 $
Description
Purchased at a French auction.
This is from a Limoges kiln in France, approximately 100 years old. It is one of several pieces from a set that originally comprised about 100 parts. The gold trim is in good condition with very little wear. However, due to the technical limitations of the time, there are slight overall tilts and the ceramic surface has a wavy texture unlike modern pieces, but these are not considered defects or flaws. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing, but there are some small chips on the feet. I believe it required highly advanced techniques to fire ceramics with such feet at that time. This fruit stand measures 250mm in diameter, 150mm in height, and has a base diameter of 125mm.
As shipping costs for ceramics can be high, discounts are available for combined purchases of two or more items.
While not a hallmark, the kiln mark on the bottom is provided as a reference image. It appears to be from the suburbs of Limoges. It was likely made from the late 19th to early 20th century.
Recycled materials will be used for shipping packaging. Also, the items listed are generally antiques, not reproductions.
