Antique "Hirochika" Japanese Kitchen Knife
Antique Hirochika Traditional Steel Kitchen Knife (Edo-style) from Tokyo
Inscription: The engraving on the surface reads Tokyo Hirochika.
Size: Approximately 29cm (11.4 inches) total length, blade width approximately 4.5cm (1.8 inches).
Crafted by skilled artisans in Tokyo.
Shape: This is a Nakiri knife (Eastern-style) with a rectangular blade and a flat tip, making it ideal for cutting vegetables.
Condition: The blade surface shows black rust and dirt, which is a natural aging process characteristic of steel (hagane) knives.
With proper sharpening and maintenance (rust removal), it can regain its sharp cutting edge. This is a good quality knife that cuts exceptionally well when freshly sharpened.
The wooden handle shows signs of use. There is yellowing at the junction between the wood and the steel.
This is an old item passed down through generations, so please review the photos before purchasing.
