Born in Shizuoka, Yutaka Ohashi studied the kata-e-zome (stencil dyeing) technique under Living National Treasure Keisuke Serizawa. He has been active both domestically and internationally, greatly contributing to the development of dyeing and crafts in his home prefecture of Shizuoka.
His techniques involve intricate stencil carving, resist dyeing, color application, and dyeing – each step is extremely complex, requiring tradition and advanced skills.
