Description
This is a Persian rug from Qom, Iran.
It is 100% silk, hand-woven with a medallion design, and is a very finely woven, high-quality piece.
It was found during a clean-out of my parents' home, still wrapped in Takashimaya department store's wrapping paper, so it is likely unused.
I was told by my father that it was purchased over 25 years ago, and considering its age, the condition is quite good.
It has the characteristic sheen of silk, and its color and appearance change depending on the angle of the light.
The pattern on the back is also sharp, demonstrating a quality that cannot be achieved with machine weaving.
The tassels are original and there are no missing parts.
