Japanese Honeybee Attractant 300ml (100ml x 3) Native Species y1003-0009

US Size:

This is the liquid remaining after boiling down the comb waste from Japanese honeybees after honey harvesting to extract beeswax.
We offer a convenient 100ml x 3 pack for use as a swarm attractant.
This size is easy to store in the freezer, utilizing any available space.
Please be aware that the liquid may ferment upon arrival. Open the cap carefully.

We aim to ship orders within 2 days of your purchase, but delays may occur due to unforeseen circumstances. We appreciate your understanding.

While referred to as an attractant, this liquid is primarily used to scent bait hives. Honeybees tend to prefer hives with a history of nesting. For new bait hives, using this liquid to impart a scent of prior use can be effective.
Honeybees have a keen sense of smell, so diluting with water is acceptable.
I personally use it diluted 2 to 4 times.

〈Example Usage Methods〉
?Spray onto the bait hive.
?Apply with a brush.
?Wipe on with a rag or cloth.
?Boil the bait hive or frames in a large pot or industrial can filled with water mixed with the attractant.
?Alternatively, ladle the liquid over them or apply with a stick wrapped in cloth.

I used to use an industrial can, but recently I've been using a spray for convenience.
I find it to be sufficiently effective.
It is often said that treated hives must be dried thoroughly to prevent mold growth. I have never experienced mold growth with this method.
The season for preparing bait hives is often dry, and I believe that placing them outside after treatment allows them to dry naturally without much effort.
This is a natural product, and as it is collected by hand, there may be residual wax or impurities. Please do not be concerned.
If using a spray, filtering the liquid through a cloth will help prevent clogging.
The product is shipped at room temperature. If you do not use it all this season, freezing is recommended for storage.
At room temperature, it can ferment, causing the cap to bulge. While I have used it even after fermentation with good results, mold may form on the surface of the liquid in the container. Therefore, freezing is best if you do not plan to use it immediately. Please understand that even with this attractant, beeswax coating, placement of attractant lures, and bait hive setups, the success rate of attracting swarms is not 100%. Even with thorough preparation, the entry rate is said to be 10-20% for beginners and up to 30% for experienced beekeepers. However, as experienced beekeepers know, the joy of a successful swarm capture is unparalleled. It is a truly special and moving experience. I sincerely wish you success with your purchases.
