From a French antique market. 25-A

Plain weave, unbleached linen sheet. Antique linen is characterized by its exceptional thickness, the texture of slub yarns and weave, and its large size, which are not found in modern items.

The color is natural. Likely unused. It feels like it was prepared as part of a dowry, but was never actually used, carefully folded, and stored in a cabinet for a long time. The stiffness of unused, thick linen, which was well starched and meticulously ironed. It will soften with use and washing.

As it is an old item, dust and stains from age are unavoidable, but they are not significant damage and should be within an acceptable range for those who understand antique textiles.

Two pieces of plain weave fabric are joined together with fine, careful hand stitching. The hem is hand-stitched with fine stitches.
Includes red initial embroidery. At the time, plain sheets would become indistinguishable at communal hand-washing facilities, so such markings were added.
