Dial gauge

Description
This item was kept in my grandfather's workplace. (It was stored in its bag, so I believe it is likely unused. However, the outer bag is dirty, so I have listed the condition as slightly scratched or dirty.)
It appears to be called a dial gauge, but I am not familiar with its detailed usage, so I am offering it to someone who needs it. The needle moves when you press what looks like a switch, but it is unclear if it is usable. I would be happy to pass it on to someone who understands its condition.
*As this was used by my grandfather, I am unable to answer specialized questions. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for your understanding in advance.
