Variegated Hakone Grass, approx. 50 buds. Will be shipped as is. Foliage plant.

This is a variegated Hakonechloa macra (Japanese forest grass).
The leaves are just starting to emerge, but the new growth is beautiful.
It is planted in a hard plastic pot.

As summer approaches, the leaves will gradually grow longer.

Around the rainy season, it will take on a gently swaying, cool appearance and can be enjoyed indoors.
You can enjoy it as a houseplant by alternating between 2 days indoors and 3 days in the sun (shade in summer).

In autumn, flower stalks will appear. After that, the leaves will gradually wither.
New buds will be ready at that time.
In warmer regions, you can cut off the dead leaves, but in colder areas like Saitama, it's best to leave them as frost protection and cut them around early February.

Hakonechloa macra plants are fine without repotting for many years. In fact, they are healthier when their roots are not disturbed.
The seller has plants that have been in the same pot for 10 years, and the leaves become shorter and smaller, taking on a different appearance. However, since the pot is full of roots, always provide water.

Hakonechloa macra is a plant that does not multiply easily.
Although it doesn't spread much, it is a hardy plant that can be enjoyed for many years.
