This is a bracelet featuring the Tafoukt motif, which means sun in the language of the indigenous people of North Africa. Each pattern on the surface is meticulously hand-carved with a single tool, and each pattern has its own meaning, symbolizing objects, stories, and allegories. The ends of the bracelet feature a traditional design using ebony wood, which is a very hard wood. (Ebony wood is a precious wood known as kokutan, distributed from Asia through India to Africa.) While it has a striking design, its delicate nature makes it suitable for layering with other bracelets or as a stylish accent.
