Kamo Paulownia Chest of Drawers
Paulownia chests of drawers made in and around Kamo City, Niigata Prefecture.
Currently, a large number of paulownia chests of drawers nationwide are produced in Kamo.

Their features lie in their ability to protect clothing from moisture and pests, and their resistance to water damage and fire.
These excellent characteristics are largely due to the paulownia wood used as the material for Kamo paulownia chests of drawers.
Paulownia wood planks are light and soft, with high airtightness, making them a suitable material for creating chests with no gaps.
In fact, there is an anecdote where a paulownia chest of drawers was swept away in a flood, and when it was opened after drying, no muddy water had entered, and the clothes inside were protected.
Because of its resistance to moisture, it has been highly valued for storing clothing in Japan's humid climate.
In addition to its high practicality, the unique elegance and warmth of Kamo paulownia chests of drawers have continued to attract people to this day.
With its fair color, silky wood grain, and clearly carved beautiful wood patterns, it possesses a dignified presence and continues to be made by skilled artisans even today.
