This is a photo book received as a souvenir from someone who traveled to the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang about 30 years ago.

[About the Mogao Caves]
A Buddhist site located near Dunhuang City, Gansu Province, People's Republic of China. Carving continued for about a thousand years from the 4th century until the Yuan Dynasty. Approximately 492 large and small caves preserve colored sculptures and murals, boasting the world's largest scale as Buddhist art. It is also famous for the discovery of the Dunhuang manuscripts in 1900. It was designated as a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level of the People's Republic of China in 1961 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Cultural Heritage) in 1987. It is counted as one of the Three Great Grottoes of China along with the Yungang Grottoes and Longmen Grottoes. (From Wikipedia)
