Description
This is a listing for a six-hole (G440Hz) shinobue flute coated with genuine lacquer. Please excuse the harsh lighting. The genuine lacquer coating results in a firm and resonant tone. While it's unclear whether this flute was made from aged bamboo or green bamboo, it possesses a beautiful appearance and a clear, transparent sound.

All of our shinobue flutes are professional-grade, yet they are also very easy to play for beginners, making them ideal for improving your skills.

-----
This is a collection of posthumous works by the late Yujiro Koike, a renowned shinobue craftsman who studied under Hyakunosuke Fukuhara and was later praised and favored by the Living National Treasure Saemon Hozan. These flutes were discovered in perfect condition, and the wish of those involved is for them to reach the hands of someone who can appreciate the value of his technique and sound.

Using his unique techniques, Mr. Koike achieved not only the pentatonic scale with standard playing but also Western scales through techniques like meri and kari. This allows for sessions with Western instruments. Furthermore, the meticulously calculated balance of the finger holes makes these flutes true works of art.

The shape of the finger holes significantly impacts playability, ease of fingering, and tone quality. Those familiar with Mr. Koike's flutes would reportedly visit frequently while waiting for their completion.

We are carefully selecting and listing flutes that have been inspected for their beautiful sound, appearance, and absence of cracks. Due to the delicate nature of these items, we kindly ask for your understanding that returns cannot be accepted. All flutes are made from carefully selected, highest-quality bamboo.

Although details of his techniques are unknown due to his passing, we have meticulously selected only those confirmed by him as his own work and of the highest quality, and their sound has been verified.

To share these beautiful tones with as many people as possible, we have decided to list them on Mercari. We may be unfamiliar with some aspects of this platform, but we will respond with sincerity.

This is an opportunity to acquire a flute with a beautiful tone, appearance, and most importantly, ease of play, whether you are already familiar with Mr. Koike's work or not. While we have some stock, these are posthumous works and are limited in quantity. Please consider purchasing one while you have the chance.

During his lifetime, a special exhibition was held at the Numazu Imperial Villa to celebrate the birth of His Imperial Highness Prince Akishino, featuring Urashima no Mai and Gagaku Performance and The World of Yujiro Koike's Flutes, where he presented his own shinobue performance.

It has been 13 years since his passing, and his website is no longer active. If you have any questions, please leave a comment, and we will do our best to answer them based on the information we have.
