This is the RS-232C connected MIDI interface adapter MA01, which was included with the Recomposer for PC-9801.
It is clean in appearance with no rust.
MIDI output via the serial port has been confirmed in a PC-9821V13 MS-DOS6.2 environment.
Even for games that do not support serial MIDI, sound could generally be produced via software called VRMD.
For more details, please search the web for serial MIDI pc-98 VRMD or similar terms.
As the market price for C-bus MIDI interface cards has become quite high, this is also a good alternative.
Please understand that this is a used item, and those who are sensitive about condition should refrain from purchasing.
