KATO Japanese National Railways Steam Locomotive, Model Train, 2003 C62 N Gauge
Length: Approx. 15cm
The C62 was manufactured in 49 units between 1948 and 1949 to compensate for the shortage of passenger locomotives after the war. They were converted from surplus freight locomotives, utilizing the boilers of D52 locomotives.
Reproduces features of the Sanyo equipment, such as the marker lights embedded in the end beam. The actual locomotive was active pulling passenger trains on the Kure Line. Until electrification in 1970, it was active pulling express trains Aki and Ondo, as well as local trains. It was noted by fans during the SL boom era for its operation pulling local trains in reverse due to station facilities, and for the attachment of head marks during the final period of pulling the Aki express.
