Gerber Snickersnee Carving Knife Vintage Legendary Blades Fork Tip Slicer w/ Box
N/A
Gerber Legendary Blades was founded in Portland in 1939 and named its cutlery after famous swords from myth and literature. Snickersnee takes its name from the blade of Ko-Ko, the Lord High Executioner in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado, and traces back to the Dutch phrase snick and snee, meaning to cut and thrust. Gerber's Legendary Blades cutlery has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, and these pieces remain popular with mid-century modern collectors as well as with cooks who still want to use them. The knife ships in the original box base with its red flocked interior and walnut blade rests as shown. The box lid is not included, and the box shows wear consistent with age including some adhesive residue from tape that was removed. Measurements are approximate.
