Mid-Century Czech Škrdlovice Art Glass Atlas Bowl by František Zemek c. 1955
František Zemek
Stunning, authentic mid-century modern Bohemian studio art glass centerpiece bowl in the iconic Atlas pattern. Designed by the renowned glass master František Zemek circa 1955, this substantial piece was handcrafted at the Škrdlovice glassworks in former Czechoslovakia using the heavy hot-shop hutní sklo technique. The bowl features a gorgeous rosalin pink cased body with swirling amber-gold ribbon fins drawn deeply into the base, creating a beautiful organic pattern that catches the light from every angle. Designer: František Zemek Manufacturer: Škrdlovice (Pattern Model #5529 / #5594) Origin: Czechoslovakia Era: Mid-Century Modern (1950s) Dimensions: 10 Diameter x 4 Tall Weight: Heavy studio quality, weighing 4.75 lbs Good vintage display condition. The bowl retains a brilliant gloss and structural clarity. The underside base rim shows authentic signs of age, including shelf wear scratching and a few tiny flea bite chips along the bottom unpolished resting edge (clearly documented in the final photo). These minor flaws are completely on the bottom surface and are entirely invisible when the bowl is sitting flat on display. No major cracks, cloudiness, or upper-rim damage.
