Antique Cast Iron‎ Hunter's Match Safe

A true piece of Victorian-era sporting décor! This is a handsome antique cast iron wall-mounted match holder, also known as a match safe, featuring a highly collectible hunting and game motif. The detailed design depicts a magnificent buck/deer head with antlers crowning the piece. Below, a rifle is draped with a freshly caught rabbit/hare and game bird over a hunter's pouch—the perfect pocket to hold your long fireplace or kitchen matches. It retains some of its original hand-painted finish (polychrome), giving it a wonderful patina that shows its age and history. A heavy, decorative, and functional piece that makes an excellent wall accent for a cabin, farmhouse, or fireplace hearth. A must-have for collectors of tobacciana, cast iron, or primitive sporting memorabilia! - Heavy Cast Iron - Wall-Mount Match Holder / Match Safe Thank you for your interest in our store.
