Description
Rose bowls emerged as a popular table accessory during the Victorian era, specifically designed to display short-stemmed roses and other garden flowers without the need for tall structural vases. The bulbous body allowed blossoms to float gracefully while the in-turned rim naturally supported the stems in an aesthetically pleasing arrangement. Throughout the 20th century, glassworks across the British Isles and continental Europe produced countless variations of these bowls using deep wheel-cut geometric patterns like crosshatching, fan cuts, and diamond facets. These pieces were staple wedding and anniversary gifts, manufactured in large quantities by skilled artisans using lead crystal or heavy pressed glass.
