Goofus glass, early 20th century vintage yellow-tinted pressed glass
N/A
Goofus Glass is a type of pressed glass produced from the early 1900s through the 1920s. It is distinctively decorated by unfired cold paint applied either directly to the surface or to the back (reverse painted) of clear or amber glass.Design Pattern: The piece features a raised multi-fruit design of yellow pears, cherries, and plums surrounded by detailed leaves.Border: It finishes with a decorative crimped or beaded sawtooth edge painted in a bright gold trim.Because the paint used on Goofus glass was unfired, it is highly susceptible to flaking or wearing off over time. To preserve its vintage value, pieces like this should only be gently hand washed and never placed in a dishwasher or scrubbed with harsh materials
