★New, Unused Cosmos Electric Alarm Device, Carbon Monoxide Checker SC-715T, Wood Stove

New, unused Shin Cosmos Electric SC-745 Comfort Watch Residential Fire and Disaster Alarm. Carbon Monoxide (CO) reaction type.

There is a sticker indicating an installation deadline of June 2024, but based on the instruction manual, I believe the lifespan starts from when the batteries are inserted.

I bought this because I was worried about cheap carbon monoxide checkers when camping. However, I never ended up using a wood-burning stove.

The attached installation deadline has passed, but since it's unused, I asked ChatGPT and received the following response:

■Regarding the expiration date
From the manufacturer's official specifications (instruction manual):

This model clearly states on the unit itself, The entire unit must be replaced after 5 years.
In other words, it is set as approximately 5 years from the date of installation and power-on as a new product.

This is:
A replacement deadline set considering factors such as sensor performance degradation (reduced detection accuracy of smoke/CO sensors) and the lifespan of batteries and internal components.

Actual Usage:
The deadline does not start from the time you purchase the product.
→ It is generally counted from the moment the unit is installed on the ceiling or wall and powered on (with batteries).

Some products may have a replacement deadline indicator light or voice alert after installation.

For example:
Installed in March 2026 → Replacement deadline is around 2031.

Based on the above, I believe it can still be used.
This was my understanding when I read the manual, which is why I never inserted the batteries.
I would appreciate it if you understand this. (*^^*)
