Vintage Taiwanese Tea Tin 1949-52 Black Gold Chinoiserie Can
Vintage
RARE early post-war Taiwanese tea tin — 全祥茶莊 Quan Xiang Tea Shop, Taipei. This is the real deal: black lithographed tinplate with gold Greek-key border, plum blossom + bird motif on one side and bold gold Chinese calligraphy on the other. Double-lid (outer slip lid + inner gold seal lid) to keep oolong fresh. History: 全祥茶莊 was a historic tea merchant in Dadaocheng, Taipei (Hengyang & Bo'ai Rd). The 4-digit phone number 電話二四〇二號 - 2402 dates it to 1949-1952 — in Dec 1952 Taipei switched all 4-digit numbers to 5-digits. So this is pre-1952. Great as tea storage, kitchen decor, desk storage, incense holder, or for your vintage Chinoiserie collection. Condition: Vintage - shows age beautifully. Light scratches, paint chips on rim/lid, interior patina/tea residue as shown. No rust-through, lid still fits snug. Please see all photos — exactly as found. I have not cleaned it to preserve patina. Just wipe interior dry if using for tea.
