Unused item, Natsume, Tea ceremony utensil, Wooden box included, Craft item, Goma pattern
This is a container for serving green tea, called a Natsume. It is said to be named after the fruit of the same name, the jujube.
While lacquerware may give the impression of being expensive and difficult to care for, it can be washed with neutral detergent and a sponge. I believe it is a lightweight, shatter-resistant, and easy-to-handle vessel.
This is the Koma design, traditionally used in lacquerware.
Koma is considered auspicious, with sayings like work goes around, money goes around, and luck goes around. This design is perfect for celebratory occasions such as New Year's.
On the bottom of the wooden box, there is a stamp that is difficult to read, and I may be mistaken, but I believe it says Chikuryo. (Please check photos ④ and ⑤.)
This is an unused item, but it has been stored at home for a long time. We appreciate your understanding.
