Japanese Vintage Wooden Mask
HANNYA
This is a Hannya mask that was displayed at the entrance of my parents' home for several decades.
My mother liked ornaments for good luck and warding off evil, and displayed them in each room.
However, we are now clearing out the house, so we are disposing of these items.
I don't know if it's thanks to this mask, but I feel like we were able to live a peaceful daily life without any major troubles.
It is said that displaying a Hannya mask at home has the meaning of:
- Warding off evil spirits
- Preventing bad things from entering the house
It is often displayed at the entrance, and there is also a custom of gifting it as a housewarming present.
