Description
This lot includes four Sotheby's New York auction catalogs from 1996 and 1998 featuring American, European, and Native American art and artifacts. The highlight is the January 15, 1998 catalog American Furniture and Decorative Arts from Spain's Northern Colonial Frontier, 1700–1900, featuring the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Al Luckett Jr. This volume includes the original printed auction results sheet. Also included is the Important American Indian Art catalog from May 19, 1998, which also retains its official auction results list. Completing the set are Property from the Foundation Dr. Edmund Müller (November 1998) and European Works of Art: Blumka Collection (January 1996). These richly illustrated catalogs contain detailed descriptions and photographs of santos, textiles, basketry, tribal masks, historical furniture, and other important works of art. Auction catalogs such as these are widely collected as reference resources for collectors, historians, and appraisers of indigenous and colonial art. Condition: Very good overall with light shelf wear from storage. Pages clean and well preserved.
