Black and white patterned egg-shaped water container

This is something I fell in love with and bought when I visited Vietnam.
An egg-shaped mizusashi (water container) with a white pattern on a black background, its unique design is captivating.
I believe it's lacquerware, but I'm not actually sure what it is.
How about using it as an interior decoration that can fit a Japanese modern style or create an ethnic atmosphere?
There is a faint gold-colored scuff mark on the lower part of one side.
