Hisago (Gourd) Small Soup Bowl refers to a slightly smaller bowl inspired by the shape of the auspicious gourd.

Unique Form: The sides feature a gently curved, indented shape, resembling the roundness of a gourd. This indentation provides a good grip, making it a practical design that is easy to hold even with one hand.

Auspicious Meaning: The gourd's spreading outwards shape has long been a symbol of good health (Rokubyo = Mufubyo, meaning no illness), business prosperity, and good fortune, making it a popular choice for celebrations and gifts.

Material and Use: Many are authentic lacquerware made from natural wood such as zelkova (keyaki) or horse chestnut (tochi), and this is a standard shape in traditional crafts like Yamanaka lacquerware and Aizu lacquerware. The size is suitable not only for miso soup and clear soups but also for serving dishes as small bowls.
