84.48 $
Description
A high-quality Wajima-nuri lacquerware soup bowl set, Wajima Ryusaku, Gosho Chinkin, black roiro finish, set of five, natural wood, with original box, original cloth, and booklet.
Each of the five bowls is luxuriously decorated with the Five Sacred Plants (pine, bamboo, plum, orchid, chrysanthemum), considered sacred in the East.
The mirror-like polished black roiro surface vividly reflects surrounding light, beautifully bringing out the delicate gold chinkin inlay.
[Dimensions]
- Bowl diameter: approx. 12.4 cm
- Bowl height: approx. 7.0 cm
- Bowl depth: approx. 4.8 cm
- Height with lid: approx. 9.5 cm
Original Box
- Outer dimensions (width x depth x height): approx. 30.8 cm x 30.9 cm x 10.5 cm
*Please note that there may be individual differences due to the handmade nature of the wood. Minor errors are to be expected.
The exterior has a very strong gloss, like a mirror finish, while the interior has a slightly calmer, softer sheen in comparison.
On the inside of the bowls, a slight yellowing (reddish tint) characteristic of lacquer can be seen depending on the light (see image 15).
This is a sign of the natural aging of genuine lacquer over time and can be enjoyed as part of the patina of the lacquerware. However, please be aware if you are seeking a perfectly new condition.
The chinkin inlay and roiro gloss on the exterior are in very beautiful condition.
There are also very minor scuffs from storage, but overall, this is a beautiful and luxurious item.
The original box and cloth have stains, and the original box has dents, while the lid has a slight warp.
As this is an antique item kept in storage, please judge based on the images provided.
Shipping will be via Sagawa Express.
We apologize, but we cannot ship to Okinawa, Hokkaido, or remote islands due to shipping costs. Thank you for your understanding.
