This is a rare commemorative plate, limited to 5,054 pieces, created in 1919 with the hope and wish for the reunification of North Schleswig (Sønderjylland), which was part of the German Empire after World War I.

It symbolizes a historic turning point just before the reunification through a referendum in Schleswig held the following year in 1920, when national expectations were high.

This is a piece deeply related to post-World War I border issues, created with the expectation and national wish for the reunification of Sønderjylland (North Schleswig) in southern Denmark.

The design is by Oluf Jensen.
The center depicts the Danish flag, the land, a path leading to the future, and a rising light, creating an impressive composition symbolizing hope, recovery, and rebirth.
The light in the distance signifies the dawn, conveying a national message of the return of what was lost.

The following words are engraved on the rim:

Giv tid og hvad du drømte skønt, du skal i sandhed skue
(Wait for time, and what you dreamed beautifully will eventually become reality)

This is known not just as a life lesson, but as a phrase symbolizing Denmark's wish for territorial recovery at the time.

The back shows the Royal Copenhagen crown mark, three wavy lines, and the painter's number 179.
