Shibukusa Ware, Ryuzo Kiln, Square Teacup Set of 5, with Shared Box
A set of 5 beautiful, hand-painted square teacups from Shibukusa Ware (Yanagisanzan Kiln).
Shibukusa Ware (Yanagisanzan Kiln) is a traditional craft from Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture.
It is a historic pottery that began in the late Edo period.
Yanagisanzan Kiln is known for its elegant style, featuring delicate hand-painted sometsuke (blue and white porcelain), akae (red decoration), and iroe (colored decoration), and produces many tea ceremony utensils, vases, and tableware.
The red mark (potter's seal) on the bottom (inside the foot) of the teacups reads Shibukusa Yanagisanzan.
The vibrant akae decoration is one of Shibukusa Ware's signature techniques.
Although they appear unused, they are listed as near unused due to the absence of original wrapping paper.
These have been stored at home for a long time, so please only purchase if you understand this.
