Antique Two-Wheeled Point de Rose Duchess Lace Western Chrysanthemum Clover - Also suitable for framing
An antique, all-handmade bobbin lace from Belgium, Brussels Duchesse lace.
Likely part of a collar or shawl from the late 1800s to early 1900s.
Flowing floral motifs.
Two roses (point de rose),
Five (and a half) marguerites of various sizes,
Three berries in a row,
Six charming shamrocks (three-leaf clovers) are visible.
The scalloped edge resembles sunflower petals.
Outlines with a slightly thicker thread for a three-dimensional effect.
Mesh inside with varying density of openwork.
The graceful and cool appearance of the leaves is also impressive.
Linear bridges connect the motifs.
The color is also attractive.
An elegant, antique ivory color with a subtle khaki-yellow cream hue.
It might even feel like buttercream.
A beautiful tone, as if time has applied makeup, unique to pieces that have aged.
It feels smooth and soft, yet crisp.
In addition to its firmness and luster, it has a well-worn, comfortable feel.
The material may be linen, or a linen-cotton, or even silk blend.

The left and right ends have been hand-stitched to prevent fraying.
There are some (age-related) variations in color, but it is in beautiful condition with no severely noticeable stains or dirt, and no major tears or rips.
There are small unravelings in the very fine threads within the motifs and the bridge threads, but they are hardly noticeable.
It would also be beautiful draped lightly over large glass containers or displayed like a picture in a glass frame.
